Lemon Sauce I

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 egg slightly beaten
1 tsp lemon rind
3 tbs lemon juice
1/2 cup water

Combine all ingredients in top of double boiler; cook, stirring constantly, over hot water until thick and smooth.

Yield: About 1-1/4 cups.
